One chocolate a day ...
01 Dec 2023
The most wonderful time of the year has started! On December 1st (the official start of the Christmas season) I turn on the jingle-bells dial up to 1000 and proceed to do the following:
- Change my phone and laptop wallpapers to Christmas/winter-themed ones.
- Listen exclusively to Christmas playlists on Spotify
- Decorate my room and office desk
Another tradition I have held dear since I was small is the advent calendar. One year I was sitting at the dinner table and I told my mom, “Can you buy me something?” to which my mom said “I know, an advent calendar?”. Mind you I didn’t have the habit of asking for that, it was just one of those mother-son connection moments.
Anyways, now every year I ask my mom if she can buy me something and she replies “I know” and proceeds to get me an advent calendar. The calendars were getting more complex by the year, but lately, we’ve reverted to the basic ones because eating a big-ass chocolate bar for a month every year surely does not do good things for my health.
Last time I was in Belgium, I gave my gifted my girlfriend one of these advent calendars, a lavish one from Milka (she does not have the tradition of doing them, so she doesn’t need a basic one). We also decided that she would do a Vlogmas and I would do a Blogmas. So here we are.
I think the concept is self-explanatory, but the goal is to make a post a day, every day until Christmas day.
You may be thinking, “This guy couldn’t commit to making ONE post a week and he thinks he’s going to make ONE per day for TWENTY-FOUR days”?, and to that, I say you’re probably right, but when has that ever stopped me?
Also, don’t expect very complex posts from me.
And that’s it for day one, I wish you all a jolly Christmas season, go change your wallpapers and buy yourselves an advent calendar.
See you tomorrow.
